In this painting, I wanted to portray the bright, fresh colors of summer, which are seen not only in the ocean and beach, but also in the pastel colors of the girl's washed out jean shorts, but also in her bathing suit top and rich auburn hair.
As a self-taught artist, my love for the visual arts began at age five, finding inspiration in my creative experiences with clay and pencil. The positive responses I have received from those who have seen my artwork has added to my motivation to continue exploring artistic media. The artwork below represents some of the drawings and paintings I have produced recently, when I have been able to carve out creative time for myself. My present focus is working with pastels, having always had great admiration for the masterpieces by Degas. I have exhibited my work in art shows in North Carolina and South Florida.
